This website highlights the news stories, feature stories, learning stories, news briefs, sports stories, photographs, cutlines, and teasers  published in Villager Newspapers between September and November 2005 as a full-time reporter.

I was one of the first reporters for Villager Newspapers and most of my articles appeared in the Thompson Villager while some of my work also was published in the Putnam Villager and Woodstock Villager.

This is the second weekly start-up newspaper I have written for, the first being the Montville Times. The Times is part of the Shore Publishing Group and I freelanced for the paper before joining the Villager Newspaper staff.

My future goals include continuing to write a variety of different types of stories, doing more investigative stories, striving to create unbiased articles in a market where many writers do not clearly give both sides to a story, and as a writer acting as a watchdog so that readers will more clearly understand their communities and their government. I believe it is a journalist's job to define problems in society, but not necessarily pose solutions to those problems. In a democratic society, people who clearly understand problems in their communities through journalism can make their voices known to elected officials, newspaper editorial pages, and their neighbors and friends.
